I trust that Prayer has a mighty power. Dear God, show me the purpose of this ongoing struggle!A lot of us struggle daily. We are not perfect human beings. We fall short of glory. We can never be perfect like You. You could have made us animals (more power to the animals though), but instead You chose to make us human beings. Human beings are born with an inclination toward virtue.
Even though we have committed many sins, we still have a connection with You. We are still created in Your image. You never left us—we are the ones who forgot about You. Forgetting You does not mean You will not forgive us. You are merciful. You are compassionate. You will never trespass against us. You have given us free will to choose. We can try to fill the void with many material things, but in the end, we still have to come back to You.
Whenever I feel lonely or find myself in despair, I pray this silently:
Dear God, please transform me. Save me. Transform my lust into love. Dear God, I am not a perfect human being. You are the Architect of my destiny. Without Your help, I cannot conquer my self-destructive impulses. Dear Lord, I pray to You to give me the strength and courage to make the best use of my wisdom, to exercise self-control over my bad impulses, to stand up for truth, to do justice to my fellow beings, to make right decisions, and to show gratitude for my life.
Dear God, I don’t want to do those things in my life that only bring the baggage of shame, guilt, and pain. I am tired of carrying this burden. I surrender my plans to You. I surrender my life to You. I trust in the power of Your grace, which overcomes the forces of evil.
Take me into Your refuge.
