Canada and India are set to strengthen ties on trade and immigration.

I have no problem with the trade. Economic trade between Canada and India is going to be good. Canada badly wants it. Both economies are trying to improve their trade relations. The problem I have is this: immigration is a major issue between these two countries. In this blog post, I will talk about it in detail.
The leaders discussed boosting trade, energy, defense, and people-to-people links, with a push to finalize a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement soon. Immigration emerged as a key issue, as Canada’s population of 42 million relies on newcomers for growth amid low natural increase, targeting skilled Indian workers in healthcare, STEM, trades, and more to fill shortages. While India’s High Commissioner eyes 15 million workers needed over the next decade for $1 trillion in investments, public views are split between welcoming talent for services and concerns over housing, wages, and unemployment. High-level visits continue, with Modi’s trip to Canada set for December.
Having economic trade is fine. Canada is overwhelmingly dependent on the USA for most of its trade. We definitely want to diversify our trade with other global economies. It will help improve relations, skills, and exports. My issue is regarding immigration. Canada doesn’t need another wave of mass immigration. The supply chain is not ready yet. Mark Carney is openly saying that we need more immigrants. What we really need are scholars, researchers, scientists, engineers, and good doctors. Opening the floodgates of immigration is not going to help us at all.
Canadians’ support for mass immigration has dropped drastically over the past few years. Everyone is feeling the pain of the rising cost of living. The situation in the Middle East is still unclear. The rising prices of gas are skyrocketing the cost of living. I want to ask one thing to the Indian High Commissioner: how the hell did you come up with 15 million people? Don’t you know that mass immigration has destroyed the social fabric of Canada? Do you really think that the people of Canada will agree with your nonsensical statement? I think he made a stupid statement. Yes, we want trade relations with India, but don’t dictate our immigration policies.
Mark Carney needs to think in a practical way. High levels of mass immigration are only going to lead to more inflation. The housing market is still damn high. People are living from paycheck to paycheck. You need to think about Canadians. You need to think about Canada.
