Real vs Reel

How many of us live in a reel life? I would say the majority of us try to escape reality. Why is it so? Because we are afraid to face it. We are afraid to face the hardships of our reality. 99% of us are living in an imaginary world. In this blog post we will talk about Real vs Reel.
Reel world is a fun world. No fights. No arguments. You are constantly chasing thrills and get excited by how many likes or how many comments you got on social media. In the reel world you can troll someone endlessly without any fear. You are simply fearless when it comes to the reel world. Your imaginary world offers you constant novelty, beauty, humor, inspiration — an easy mental vacation from discomfort. Reel life is fast. It is adventurous. You get a lot of time to show your perfect self. You can take as many shots as you want to look good on social media.
I think everyone craves attention, and when you get attention from the whole open world, what else do you need? You feel like a celebrity. I guess everyone wants to become a celebrity. We are social animals. We want to receive appreciation from people. It boosts our self-confidence. We want to know how many people have actually watched my video or my reel on social media. We want to know what’s happening in someone’s life. The best way to know about it is to step into the imaginary world of social media.
The real question is: are we neglecting our real life for reel life? I would say yes — we are neglecting our real life. There are reasons for it. Real life is slower, messier, less photogenic. Real life gives slow, unpredictable rewards. In real life you can’t delete awkward moments, force people to like you, or instantly change how you look. Real life includes taxes, arguments, illness, Monday mornings, rejection, and long stretches of nothing special.
I know that real life is slow. We have a habit of wanting things right now. We are impatient with our lives, but that’s exactly where the magic takes place. Real life is where ultimate growth and real success happen. Endless joy and endless love can only happen in real life. Reel life is just one way to show your real life on screen / on camera. You need to live your moments. Life is here and now. There’s no past and no future. How can the past and future take place in the present moment? They can’t. It’s impossible.
Focus on your real life. Don’t give up on your life. Live your real life and don’t sacrifice it for foolishness. Don’t take your reel life seriously. Remember it’s just entertainment — and entertainment has to end someday, but life is infinite.
